I came across this video today in an EduBlogger post by Ronnie Burt entitled Teaching students about copyright – the YouTube way. According to the post, YouTube has plans to make anyone found guilty of a copyright offense related to the video site, to watch it and take a short test.
I cringed initially when The Happy Tree Friends popped up, but the video is cleverly put together and lacks the usual blood and gore generally evident in Tree Friends videos.

Copyright and Fair Use
Copyright law in regards to education is not as clear cut as many of us would like. This can be frustrating for teachers and students when trying to put together dynamic projects and the 10 second rule while a good guideline, may not always be the best alternative.
Peter Jaszi out of American University has been working to put together new guidelines for this gray area that will hopefully help educators sort it all out. Until then there are some good websites out there that try to aid us when wrestling with this situation.
